What kind of an idea makes people sacrifice hundreds of training hours, their long-awaited summer holiday and their beloved bike equipment? Why do a clerk, a student, a doctor and a businessman turn into sportsmen? Every year, a few hundred bike passionates answer in one voice: TRANSCARPATIA! They've been doing so for years and then they've appeared at the start line of the largest stage race in Poland you can take up here.

TRANSCARPATIA is not only the oldest race of its kind in the Carpathian mountains. It's also the longest route that participants must ride. The race attracts bikers from all over the world: Germany, Italy, Spain, America, Australia, Portugal, the Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and even from the distant Siberia. Every year, the TransCarpatia family is bigger and more international.

In 2010 almost 550km of a cycling adventure in the most beautiful Carpathian arch awaits another group of enthusiasts. This time the organisers have decided to make the riders' task - challenging and difficult anyway - a little easier with a marked recommended route. The stage finish and - at the same time - start places are the most beautiful towns and villages in the mountains.

TransCarpatia 2010 - the collector's edition (Poland-Czech Republic-Slovakia-Ukraine).

It's the 7th edition of the legendary stage race in the Carpathian Mountains. This time you have the unique opportunity to race on the trails along the Polish, Czech, Slovak and - for the first time - Ukrainian frontiers. The 7th edition of TransCarpatia - the oldest stage race in our part of Europe - will set out on the 15th August 2010 from Ustron in the Beskid Slaski to Baligrod in the Bieszczady. A marked recommended route is a major novelty in this edition of the race. When planning the route for TransCarpatia 2010, we focused on choosing the most interesting parts of the Polish arch of the Carpatian so that we could eliminate asphalt stretches almost completely. The first stage will take you through the Beskid Slaski and Zywiecki. Starting from Ustron, through the picturesque Istebna, following Gary Fisher, across the Zywiecki scenic park, we reach the hospitable Rajcza. The second stage explores the Beskid Sredni and the vicinity of the Babiogorski National Reserve. Starting in Raba Wyzna and finishing in Szczawnica Zdroj, the third day will take you through the Gorczanski National Reserve (Turbacz 1311 meters above sea level) and the legendary Luban chain. It has become the classic part of TransCarpatia to ride from Szczawnica Zdroj through the Beskid Sadecki (Poprad Scenic Park) to Krynica Zdroj in one day. We marked out the next stage in the Low Beskid (it only appears low ;-) into the heart of the Magurski National Reserve - Iwonicz Zdroj. The 6th stage will take us from Iwonicz Zdroj through the Cisna-Wetlina Scenic Park to Baligrod in the Bieszczady National Reserve, where we finish off TransCarpatia 2010 with the 7th loop stage, after riding almost 550km!!!
